The very core of Young Life has nothing to do with camp, club, skits,
teenagers, relationships, or leaders. The only thing that really
matters is Jesus. Young Life didn't and won't die to pay the penalty
for sin. If you love Young Life, Young Life cannot love you back.
Simply put, Jesus is better than Young Life. Jesus is at the core of
Young Life.
The very next circle that would surround the core that is Jesus would
be those whom God has called to enter into the world of kids with
purpose of sharing the gospel. God could speak through dreams,
visions, or cloud formations but he chooses to use people to proclaim
the Good News of his Son! In Acts 10, Cornelius receives a vision but
it was through Peter that he heard and then understood the news of
salvation. The same is true here in Lexington Young Life. God could
save kids from their sins through a variety of means but he chooses in
his grace to use Young Life Leaders to proclaim the gospel!
On April 10th, we had a dinner for current Young Life leaders,
committee persons, and parent support team members to invite their
friends to hear about working with kids. At this meeting 50 or so
potential leaders came to hear about Young LIfe and how God might use
them. It was a great night to meet new people and to hear from
Donielle Wood and Elizabeth Cox who shared how God had moved in their
lives.
We are now in the process of getting to know some of those 50 people
as they seek God's guidance about how he might use them with kids.
Our hope is that they see the opportunity that Peter had in Acts 10 to
see God use his message to redeem kids to himself.
